Debs considers herself to be a social documentary photographer, capturing images of people at large events which encapsulate our way of life, our ‘Britishness’. In particular, football culture plays a huge part and Debs captures the passion of the fans, the camaraderie, loyalty, family, rivalry, tribalism, connections to their club and something much deeper, using portraiture and candid photography, finding out their stories, putting a face to the football fan, talking to them, finding out what going to the match means to them, how they were introduced to football, why they support their particular team. Debs is becoming renown for capturing the emotions of people in a mesmerising uplifting way, giving her the ability to tell unique stories with her images. A big football fan herself, she is the Her Game Too Ambassador for her club Bolton Wanderers FC. Debs brings an abundance of energy, passion and personality with any project she works on.
Having exhibited several times at Hive Arts, most recently part of ‘Photopool 24’ including the tramstop takeover on Blackpool Promenade and the ‘Get Your Kits Out Festival’ and ‘Who Are Ya’ billboard exhibition in Liverpool City Centre, displaying female football fan portraits.
Debs was commissioned by Bury Art Museum to capture football fan images at Bury FC for a ‘Going to the Match’ exhibition at Bury Art Museum to accompany the L S Lowry painting of the same name which was exhibited from September 2024 to March 2025.
Her latest project which was exhibited at Photo North Festival in April 2025, ‘Rivalry and Romance’ introduces various couples who support rival football teams and how this affects their relationship, does love and romance really conquer all?
Recently awarded the accolade of Runner Up in the student photography competition at Photo North Festival for her 'Everything but the Game' ongoing football culture project April 2025.
Debs is currently working with Walk The Plank Arts alongside English National Opera on a project titled 'Perfect Pitch' where opera and football collide and has just exhibited and produced a book from her socially engaged photography project 'The 12th Fem'.
One of her Bolton Fems portraits is on display in the 'Documenting your Community' exhibition by British Culture Archive at Bolton Museum until 15th June 2025.
